Where in the World would you go to spend precious time with your family? Here are the top family destinations for 2016, whether you are looking for a cultural experience, sandy beaches or something a little different, I am sure the following will inspire you.
1. Balearic Islands
The Spanish islands of Majorca, Menorca and Ibiza offer a short flight from majority of UK airports. Families return year after year for the stunning scenery, sandy beach, sunny climate and mouth- watering cuisine.
The resorts are very different and have a wide range of accommodation to suit everyone. Ibiza, don’t just think of parties as there are plenty of family resorts such as Es Cana and Santa Eulalia. Minorca is perfect for a relaxing beach break with gently shelving beaches. Whereas Majorca has a fabulous capital, Palma as well as great family resorts of Alcudia and Cala D’or.
Sporting families will love the Algarve with a wide range of activities – golf, horse riding and watersports.
A large variety of beaches, short flight from the UK, family-friendly resorts and reliable summer sun makes this a popular destination.
What's more, there is a huge choice of accommodation catering for all budgets.
With its many beaches, restaurants and theme parks, the resort of Albufeira is just the ticket for many families as well as Vilamoura with a picturesque marina.
3. Spanish Mainland
The Spanish coastal resorts such as Marbella on the Costa del Sol and Benidorm on the Costa Blanca are popular due to their beautiful beaches and family-focused entertainment.
A short flight from the UK from majority of airports, affordable food and drink in the restaurants, supermarkets and bars.
However, we have noticed more families opting for Spanish cities such as Barcelona and Madrid also offer fantastic value for money and wide range of cultural activities plus Barcelona has a fabulous beach so it is perfect to mix beach with sightseeing.
4. Canary Islands
Consisting of the islands of Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura they are all family orientated.
Each of the islands are different, with Fuerteventura appealing to families looking for a quieter trip; Los Cristianos in Tenerife and Playa Blanca in Lanzarote are among the most popular resorts for those with small children.
A four hour flight from majority of the UK airports.
5. Greek Islands
The islands have something to offer everyone, gorgeous beaches and clear blue seas.
The larger islands of Corfu, Crete, Rhodes and Kos offer a wide range of sightseeing whereas quieter islands of Kefalonia and Skiathos are perfect for more relaxing holidays.
As the Greek economy continues to suffer, families on a budget should also be able to take advantage of some great discounts and special offers.
From camping to 5* hotels, France has it all. You can fly, drive or jump on the train to explore this fabulous country.
Climb mountains in Chamonix, go mountain biking, jump the waves in Biarritz, visit Mickey Mouse, visit the Eiffel Tower, go star spotting in St Tropez and Cannes.
Perfect destination for those who don’t want to fly, just pack up your car and drive.
You don't have to go far away to enjoy quality time with your family. Many of my fond memories as a child are in the UK.
Attractions such as the London Dungeons and Edinburgh Castle can make UK city breaks just as much fun for all age groups.
For a more relaxing holiday, travel to Northumberland for great beaches and a huge mixture of castles or head to St Ives in Cornwall for sandy beaches and cute cottages, go to the Lake District for family walks and fun attractions or head to one of the UK's many holiday parks that offer activities during the day and evening for all the family.
