It was always my dream to get married in Cyprus and as I started to plan my dream day I could not believe how easy and straight forward it was. Having said that, I would recommend you to plan way in advance to ensure you have everything covered! The planning came together well, however it was on going altogether for over a year and a half! Each day of planning was a day closer to that special day, and with so many hotels and venues to choose from, how would I ever decide?
I decided by selecting what was the most important to us and the prefect venue we required, after deciding this we narrowed down our choices until there was a final 3! The final decision was based on which hotel offered me the best wedding package and which hotel did only 1 wedding per day - I didn't want to share my special day with another bride! Our chosen hotel and wedding co-ordinator, were simply amazing which I would later find out!
Our journey began on the 11th September 2013, as we checked in at Leeds Bradford Airport full of excitement and headed straight to the newly refurbished VIP Premier Lounge! With a wide variety of lovely snacks to hand and comfortable seating away from the hustle and bustle we started our holiday in style with a glass of chardonnay whilst our family and closest friend were by our side! The time had come to board our flight, so with my wedding dress carefully packed inside my hand luggage, we were off! The amazing ladies at my chosen bridal shop had ensured my dress was carefully packed in a small case which met the airlines hand luggage restrictions. As organised by our wedding party, the cabin crew made a congratulations message over the tannoy before serving us with champagne on ice! Before we knew it, we had arrived in Paphos where the sun was shining and our transfer was waiting to take us to our chosen hotel..(our wedding guests were dropped off before us, at a hotel just 5 minutes away from us). The only word I can use to describe the view I saw when we walked into Alexander The Great Hotel in Paphos is AMAZING! From that moment on, we just knew that we would enjoy every minute of our stay here, and, as we had already knew before we left the UK - the hotel had upgraded us to a Sea View Room complimentary.
The following morning, we met our wedding co-ordinator and left in our private taxi to Paphos Town Hall to finalise the legal documentation, although the majority had been sorted via email before we arrived. Our fist week was spent relaxing and topping up our tans in preparation for the big day. Our wedding co-ordinator was always on hand checking there was nothing else we needed to do, and after meeting our Photographer a few days before the wedding, we were more than happy with all the plans that were in place. On the 17th September, it was here, our big day had finally arrived and it was up for breakfast and sunbathing as usual. It was surreal to think that in that same afternoon, I would be married! So, the preparations began, I had my hair done first by a local hairdresser whom I had recommended to me which I was completely over the moon with and then it was my make up. After our flowers were delivered to the rooms I raised a glass with my mum and bridesmaid, then there was just the one final thing to do - put on my dress! So, that was it, I was ready go do when my Dad entered the room, the look on his face I will never forget.
All the guests had taken their seats and we now made our way to the wedding venue. As the music began (Take That - Greatest Day), and the breeze was blowing by the entrance way, this was it. The Wedding Garden was just total bliss, surrounded by views of the sea and stunning Paphos Castle. The sun shone down on us as we said our vows and the moment was just magical, never, ever to be forgotten. We left the wedding garden and were led onto the terrace where we had our reception in the sunshine but under cover enough to be comfortable in the heat as we cut our beautiful cake.
After numerous pictures with our wedding group, my husband and I then left in our private air conditioned jeep and was taken to three stunning locations for more photographs. The locations were a beautiful park, some old ancient ruins and rocks on a secluded beach, what an amazing album we have to treasure forever! Our chosen wedding meal was the Cyprus Meze, a total delight, so many different courses of traditional Cypriot Food with delicious wine served throughout before we danced the night away!
The following morning we awoke to a champagne breakfast in bed (at a time we had selected) and a call from the hotel manager to congratulate us and offer us a further upgrade to the Penthouse Suite for the remainder of our stay! My whole experience of our wedding abroad was simply amazing and I would recommend it to anyone. The cost involved is quite often much cheaper than Weddings in the UK and with much more value for money. I have been fortunate enough to arrange numerous weddings for my clients this last year, and with my expert knowledge and desire to plan your wedding carefully - I can guarantee you will have a Wedding Day you will never forget! Being the Wedding Specialist here at Worldwide Travel Solutions gives me a great pleasure. No wedding is ever the same, but what will always be the same is the commitment from myself to plan your day with the greatest detail.
